|Perhaps choice isn't always a good thing?
Surely some choice is useful but the fact that there are so many choices can actually hurt the Linux community.
With perhaps hundreds of distributions it becomes very difficult to write application, add hardware support, or otherwise uniformly improve the users experience for all users of the OS...
If I want to improve the OS or write an application it's much easier to do this for one distribution then for 100's.
